C is a Black, queer, and trans student pursuing a master’s in Political Science at Simon Fraser University. Their research interests include queer theory, feminist political theory and the connection between gender, sexuality, and national identity. When they aren’t working on their degree, they love to write spoken word poetry, go to cafes, and become more familiar with the occupied territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples they are currently residing on.
They got their start doing 2SLGBTQ+ education by leading workshops for the gender and sexuality alliance in their high school. Since then, they’ve been involved in a number of 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC initiatives in their community as a research assistant, facilitator, community outreach assistant, and poet. They dream of a future where everyone is free, and they are committed to doing what they can to work towards that liberation.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Wisdom2Action acknowledges the land on which it was originally established as the traditional and unceded territory of the M’ikmaq, known as Mi’kmak’i (Nova Scotia). Our team is spread across Turtle Island (Canada) on the treaty lands of many First Nations. We recognize the people and the land in this way as part of our commitment to anti-oppression and decolonization. We are all treaty people.
