Join the RPT’s Community Advisory Table!

The Champlain Regional Planning Table for Trans, Two Spirit, Intersex, Non-Binary and Gender Diverse Health (the RPT) is creating a Community Advisory Table (CAT), to help make sure that members of the trans, Two Spirit, intersex, non-binary and gender diverse community are meaningfully and comprehensively engaged in the work of the RPT.

The RPT works to support and improve trans health services within the Champlain region (Ottawa and surrounding areas). The RPT consists of representatives from health and social service organizations [Centretown Community Health Centre (on behalf of Ottawa-area community health centres), Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Family Services Ottawa (FSO), Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) and Youth Services Bureau (YSB),] and an equal number of members from the Trans, Two Spirit, Intersex, Non-Binary and Gender Diverse community.

Joining the Community Advisory Table is an opportunity for community members to contribute to the work of the RPT, and to help guide RPT activities. The CAT will meet on a quarterly basis (i.e., once every three months) for 2-3 hour meetings.

Role of Community Advisory Table Members:

  • Provide input on the RPT annual work plan and annual objectives.
  • Provide input on the activities of the RPT, including in the areas of capacity building, equity and inclusion, pathways to care, and other topics.
  • Support community engagement activities alongside the RPT to ensure community members have additional opportunities to inform the work of the table.
  • Undertake additional initiatives or projects, as identified by the Community Advisory Table, related to trans health in the Champlain region.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Identify as trans, Two Spirit, non-binary, intersex and/or otherwise gender diverse.
  • Live within the Champlain region. For a map of the Champlain region, click here.
  • Interested in helping improve trans health services in the region.

Trans, Two Spirit, non-binary, intersex and gender diverse individuals who are Black, Indigenous or People of Colour, who are Francophone, Older Adults, Youth (between 18-25), engaged (or have previously engaged in) sex work, live in rural communities, and/or have lived experience accessing trans health services are particularly encouraged to apply.

Time Commitment:

  • The anticipated time commitment is approximately 3-5 hours, including meetings, and occasional (opt-in) opportunities to provide input between meetings.
  • Members of the Community Advisory Table have flexible terms but are encouraged to consider remaining on the table for a minimum of 1 year.

Compensation:

  • All community members on the Community Advisory Table will receive an honorarium of 25$ an hour for their time for all approved activities.
