On March 27 and 28, 2019, Dalhousie University will be hosting a satellite event for the Families in Canada Conference 2019!
Student Union Building
Room 307, 6136 University Avenue
Halifax, NS B3H 4R2C
In addition to the National Conference being held at the Infinity Convention Centre in Ottawa, our university partners across the country will also be
hosting satellite events. This pan-Canadian approach extends the reach of the Families in Canada Conference 2019: panel discussions from the National
Conference will be livestreamed to the satellite events, which will also provide local programming on-site that focuses on topics of interest to their
specific region and/or communities.
The local panel sessions in Halifax highlight work being done by local academic and community researchers to gather, understand, and use data to benefit Nova
Scotian families. Presentations will be combined with opportunities for dialogue and discussion, and attendees will have opportunities to identify areas for ongoing collaboration.
Presentations and discussions will focus on two daily themes:
Day 1: Safe, Sound & Healthy: Data benefiting families in Nova
Day 2: Knowledge Translation: Making data meaningful for families
Presentations will include:
- Effective solutions for managing procedural pain related to vaccinations
- Better Nights, Better Days: Family-based interventions to improve sleep in children
- Building and nurturing collaborative networks to support evidence-based early childhood
policies, programs, and practices
- Understanding community safety through crime incident data
…and much more!
