Phoenyx Ahmed

They/He | Project Officer

Phoenyx Ahmed (they/he) is a Project Officer with Wisdom2Action, based between Hamilton, Ontario and Montreal, Québec, on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations, including the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, and Kanien’kehá:ka peoples. Phoenyx is a queer, nonbinary, racialized Muslim settler and refugee from Pakistan, born in Saudi Arabia and raised in United Arab Emirates. Their work is deeply informed by their lived experiences navigating identity, displacement, belonging, and community across multiple cultures and diasporas.

With a background spanning finance, community organizing, and equity-focused advocacy, Phoenyx brings both systems thinking and grassroots experience into their work. Their work centers care, accessibility, and creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and understood.

Phoenyx is also a founding member of Queer Halal Time, a grassroots initiative supporting queer and trans Muslims and allies through mutual aid and community-building initiatives. Their community work is grounded in relationship-building, intersectionality, and creating spaces where marginalized people can feel affirmed, connected, and safe to exist fully as themselves.

They are currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies with a focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Ontario Tech University. In addition to their professional and community work, Phoenyx has served on youth advisory committees with It Gets Better Canada and Wisdom2Action, contributing intersectional and community-rooted perspectives to national conversations around equity, belonging, and youth empowerment.
