#Act4QueerSafety and #FactsOverFear were two of Momentum‘s key campaign initiatives in 2023.
To protect trans kids from bullying by their own governments, Momentum supported campaigns in New Brunswick and Saskatchewan. As a result, they mobilized and condemned the blatant homophobia and transphobia displayed by the Conservative Party.
Due to the rising anti-2SLGBTQIA+ rhetoric, Momentum launched the official House of Commons petition calling for the implementation of the White Paper on the Status of Trans and Gender Diverse People alongside the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) calling on the Government of Canada to act for #TransEqualityNow.
Why? Because trans equality must be cultivated in practice by federal leadership, not just on paper.
In less than a month, the petition received over 5,000 signatures with a new goal set to reach 10,000 signatures! Thank you to everyone who added their name.
As a coalition, Momentum is mobilizing allies and advocates for an equal, free, and socially just society. For queer people. For all our families.
